Tom Pechar is the owner of Synergy HomeCare of Wilmington (NC). He moved to Wilmington in 2010 after a long and successful executive career in not-for-profit arts management, and fulfilled a long held dream of starting and growing his own business. Having lived in a mission-driven environment his entire professional life, Tom started a business that would make a real difference in peoples’ lives. He found that in Synergy HomeCare, a national network of more than 100 non-medical home care agencies. Synergy provides care to clients of all ages – seniors who wish to age in place but may need some assistance with activities of daily life, pre-partum and post-partum moms, special needs children, people convalescing from a hospital stay – any client who may need personal care for short or extended periods of time.
Prior to this second career, Tom spent five years working in resident professional theatres around the country. As Managing Director of theatre companies in New York, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Baltimore and Atlanta, Tom produced hundreds of plays and musicals, including The Color Purple in its pre-Broadway run. In Seattle, Tom coordinated the fundraising and construction of a $20 million performance, production and education complex for Seattle Children’s Theatre, one of the most respected professional theatres for young adult audiences in the country.
